The terms of office for each regular member of the committee on border relations shall
commence on June 1
st
and shall terminate on the last day of May. The mayor and each representative may
make appointments during 2018. The initial term for the regular members nominated
by the mayor and representatives in Districts 2, 3, 6 and 7 shall be for one-year, and they are eligible to serve for one additional consecutive
two-year term. After 2018, all appointments shall be for two-year terms, on a staggered
basis as described in this section. Except for those appointments made during 2018,
the regular members nominated by the mayor and the representatives in Districts 2,
3, 6 and 7 shall begin and end in odd numbered years. The regular members nominated by the representatives
in Districts 1, 4, 5 and 8 shall begin and end in even numbered years. The members of the committee on border
relations serving on the effective date of the ordinance from which this chapter is
derived shall remain in office and complete their current terms, and there shall be
no break in service of the terms of the members due to the adoption of this chapter.
