§ 12.60.080. Yield right-of-way signs.

Latest version.
  • A.

The traffic engineer is authorized to erect "yield" signs at intersections where he finds that traffic conditions justify requiring drivers to yield the right-of-way to traffic on the intersecting street, but do not require a traffic light or stop sign.

    B.

Every such sign shall bear the word "Yield," either alone or with additional words indicating what traffic is to be yielded to, and shall be illuminated or reflectorized.

    C.

When yield signs are erected as herein provided at or near the entrance to any intersection, every driver of a vehicle upon approaching such sign shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching from the right or left on the intersecting street which are so close as to constitute an immediate hazard.

    D.

If a driver is involved in a collision at an intersection or interferes with the movement of other vehicles after driving past a yield sign, such collision or interference shall be deemed prima facie evidence of such driver's failure to yield the right-of-way.
